About Us

In April 2006, attorneys Gary Basham and Alden Parker left their positions with a national workplace law firm to establish the boutique employment law firm of Basham Parker LLP. With more than thirty combined years of experience working with California employers, Gary Basham and Alden Parker pledged to develop long term relationships with private and public sector employers and employment practice liability insurance (EPLI) carriers to fully support and fulfill their employment law needs. In December 2008, Nancy McCoy joined Basham Parker as a Partner, bringing an additional ten years of employment law skill and knowledge to the Firm. The three Partners, together with a team of exceptionally talented Associate attorneys, endeavor to deliver the highest quality and the most effective legal representation to their clients. With offices in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, Basham Parker focuses exclusively on employment law and related workplace matters.

Basham Parker’s employment law practice includes representation of single and multi-plaintiff (class or complex action) litigation, administrative claims and charges, advice and counsel services, and management/workplace training. The Firm's reputation is built on the time honored values of ethics, integrity, and exemplary attention to client service. That reputation is valued by clients who use the depth, experience, and resources of Basham Parker to satisfy their workplace law needs.

Basham Parker provides exceptional service to its clients by focusing on what it does best – representing private and public sector employers in employment law and related matters. The Firm’s exclusive boutique practice provides its clients significant benefits:

Efficiency derives from specialization – knowledge is everything. To warrant recognition as employment law experts, Basham Parker attorneys engage in regular review and analysis of private and public employment law trends and developments, commit to daily review of both federal and state workplace case law decisions as well as enacted and pending legislation, and utilize that knowledge on a daily basis within an active practice entirely focused on employment law. Moreover, Basham Parker attorneys are vastly familiar with jurisdictional issues, opposing counsel, arbitrators, mediators, and judges. Knowing the specific requirements or procedures of a court, the tendencies of individual judges, and the inclinations of regional juries significantly benefits our clients.

Basham Parker is a “partner-led” firm, meaning the partners – the attorneys with the most knowledge and experience – are the attorneys working a specific case. While associate attorneys provide critical team support on any given matter, work is not leveraged or “passed down” within or around the Firm to junior staff; consequently, clients are provided greater service, stability, and continuity.

Absent the excessive management oversight and office politics inherent in large law firms, which all too often overshadows the primary goal of client satisfaction, boutique law firms like Basham Parker have the ability to adjust administrative practices to comply with the specific needs of individual clients.

Larger law firms are frequently organized and directed by non-attorney executives, but Basham Parker does not strategically evaluate or rank the value of its clients. Consequently, all clients are provided the same superior service and attention, whether a Fortune 500 Company or a small family-owned local business.
